  1. Hi,

I’m about to order the 4770 version of the brix. Everything works right? GPU, sleep, etc. I’m excited about this.

    • Can you download files in the above link?
When installing OS X, did you copy these files ( SSDT.aml, config.plist, kexts ) correctly ?

  2. Hey Evan,

I have another (and hopefully final) question. Does the machine turbo boost to 3.9 ghz? I was reading on the tonymac forums that the intel nuc had some issues turbo boosting. Does the 4770 turbo boost all the way?

    Thanks again.

  3. Hey Evan,

Ok, hopefully this is the last question. Did you get the 4770R version of the 4570R version of the brix pro? Also, why did you pick that one?

    Thanks.

    • There are some paper said that 4770R can turbo to 3.9ghz. Mine is 4570R. So I can not turbo to that CPU clock frequency. The reason is that I don’t need to do a lot of work which needs good performance on it. I have another computer which has better performance. So I picked 4570R.

  4. Hi.

I just wanted to follow up that I finally got my brix working perfectly. I have the 4770r version.

I used a 512 gb samsumg evo msata. I have 16gb of g.skill memory. Just remember to get 1.35v memory and not 1.5v.

Clover defaults to an iMac as the system definition. With this system definition, I am unable to get imessage working correctly. Sound sometimes stops too. Using a mac pro system definition is a lot better so far. iMessage works (with facetime). Sound doesn’t cut out.

Using the link above, I was able to get the headphone port working. I cannot get sound through HDMI for some reason. I’ll investigate this further.

    • Glad to know that your Brix works well!
I didn’t try iMessage before. Thanks for your information, I’ll find whether I have the same problem as yours.
There is a site that describes the problem of sound through HDMI. I’ll update this post, when I find a solution.

    • I just got iMessage working by doing the following:

      1. Download Chameleon Wizard (http://www.osx86.net/files/file/3751-chameleon-wizard-432/) and go to the SMBios tab. Click Edit and select the “iMac (14,1)” profile under Premade SMBioses.
      2. Click both Random buttons to generate a unique Serial.
      3. Open your EFI partition and edit EFI/CLOVER/config.plist in a text editor

      A.
      BoardSerialNumber
      C02032101R5DC771H

Paste the value above but change some of the numbers and letters to make yours unique. Don’t change the length of digits.

      B.
      SerialNumber
      W8000AAAAA

Paste in the serial number generated in Chameleon Wizard.

      C.
      SmUUID
      00000000-0000-1000-8000-010203040506

Paste the value above but change the last 6 digits to be the Mac address of your Ethernet (en0) adapter. You can get this by going to System Preferences->Network->Advanced…->Hardware. So if your Mac address is 74:d4:34:cd:8d:0c then your value would be 00000000-0000-1000-8000-74D434CD8D0C

      4. Reboot.

When I logged back into OSX it actually prompted me for my iMessage password right away.

  5. Evan,

How is your sleep functioning? Sleep and wake does work for me, but every now and then, when I try to put the brix pro to sleep it ends up restarting.

Have you encountered this? If so, do you know how to fix this?

    Thanks.

  6. For anyone who gets a system reset immediately after trying to boot the install disk. There is a BIOS setting under CPU called “Cfg Lock” that I had to disable to get past this point.

  7. Hi,

My system is the brix pro 4770r with 16gb 1600 compatible crucial memory and samsung evo msata and sata ssd. On the first install of clover on the installation disk, the instructions ask to copy the provided files to

Open Finder to add following files into EFI.
    SSDT.aml —>EFI/EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched/
    config.plist —> EFI/EFI/CLOVER/
    kexts —> Unzip it—>EFI/EFI/CLOVER/10.9/

But when choosing to install the bootloader to MBR, there’s no EFI folder on the EFI Volume (which, by the way is hidden and had to be manually mounted). So I copied it to the EFI folder on the “Install OS X Mavericks” itself. I get the

    “boot1: /boot
    6”.

    • Also, If I install for UEFI booting only, before the bootloader the message “corrupted mode” will show a litle before and then when selecting to boot from OS X Install nothing happens and when any key is pressed, it returns to the bootloader.

      • With Unibeast, using -x I’m able to boot past the language selection, but just as with my first clover attempt on a previous version, no sata or msata disk will be detected on disk utility

  8. hi, im trying to get this working following instructions to the point but when i choose install mavericks in clover I dont get passed boot- 6 after mac logo. It goes back in a loop for language selection, any advice? bios2, brix pro 4770 i7, 16gbram, sata disc only

  9. Hi i need help here,
i follow the instruction step by step from this setup guide
but when i hit legacy mode the screen will pop up the apple screen
after that my LCD TV will flash and turn into ” No Signal ” mode
and then Brix Pro i7 4770R will restart…

is it something wrong here? 😦

  10. I’ve updated 10.9 to 10.10 by clicking “Update”,but…PLZ HELP!!! WHY OS X working only by usb,no msata or sata disk connections shows

  11. I get 2 beeps before the boot loader screen after a fresh install… Any idea why ?

I have the Brix Pro i7-4770R Version

  12. Fixed the boot loader problem… Just had to change Clover version…

I can’t seem to get the sleep to work though! Every time i put the computer to sleep, the blue power light stays on, the fan stops and the hard drive sounds like it stops, but the light doesn’t change and there is no way to wake it up since it never went to sleep… I tried with darkwake=8 and darkwake=10, also tried to Patch RTC, Fix RTC, Patch AppleCPUM, and Kernel PM… Nothing works…

    Does someone know why ?
